The benefits of Baltic birch plywood

Baltic birch plywood is the most versatile plywood available.

Baltic birch plywood is unique because of its all-birch veneer core that’s cross-banded and laminated with exterior grade glue, making for a superior stable sheet. It also has a thicker face veneer than traditional cabinet grade plywood.

It is famous for its easy machinability and screw holding strength, which is superior to other plywood options. Its strength, uniform plies and thicker face and backing veneer also make Baltic birch the plywood of choice for pieces where you want to create dovetail or finger joints

Baltic birch is a plywood product native to the northeastern region of Europe around the Baltic Sea. It is manufactured for European cabinetmaking. This begins to explain the product’s odd sheet size of 5’x5′.

Baltic birch’s core is unlike traditional plywood you may be used to seeing. Its high-quality multiple plys (veneer layers) provide a panel that is able to handle heavy loads or high impacts. The plys are nearly void free (no missing knot holes) and perform well even on stereo cabinets and other demanding projects.

Its flexibility in thinner thicknesses means it is a go-to item to use on skateboards or curves. The face veneers are slightly thicker, allowing a solid finishing surface to sand, stain, and seal.

If the edges are exposed, their density and fineness look good. All these characteristics provide a solid item to use in your next project.
