Aluminum Window Tips
Screens: Hinged screens are a recommended option. They add about $19.00 per vent, on awnings and casements. The standard “wicket” screen is about 1” thick, surface mounts to inside side of window frame, and is removable by turn chips. Wicket screens are not available on window widths from 20” to 32.5”. Screens or sliders and single hungs are just like those in vinyl windows.
Delivery Schedule: Aluminum windows have a sometimes lengthy delivery date. A single simple window may take as little as 5 weeks. A large order with combination windows could take up to 10 weeks.
These are made in Tacoma, WA. They are crated and shipped to the Aurora, Colorado plant and unpackaged. The windows are then shipped to Front Range Lumber, or in some cases direct to a jobsite. Having no wrappings, the products can be immediately and thoroughly inspected.
Window Operation: Casements and awnings are “push out” operation. Generally, two sturdy handles are turned 90 degrees, unlocking, and then the vent can be pushed out. “Egress” hinges are available at no upcharge.
