Front Range Lumber performs most machining, pre-hanging, and cutting in our own shop, or through our network of suppliers.
While we make every attempt to expedite your project, keep in mind that due to consistently high demand, our schedule runs
at least a few days out. Unfortunately, we cannot perform any work on your site, but we can get you well along to complete
your project on-site.
We use:
New Door, New Frame
We can prehang virtually any door, in any frame to your specifications, including:
- Non-standard door sizes
- Non-standard jamb/frame/wall thicknesses
- Mixed units (i.e. oak door in a paint grade frame)
- Special design doors
- Double units, sidelites, door lights, transoms
- Dutch door and other special door units
- Outswing
New Doors, Existing Frame/Jamb
Front Range provides a service we call matching. We simply use your old door as a pattern to machine a replacement door
for the hinges and lock. This leaves only putting the door back on the hinges and painting or staining to your desire. We
guarantee the fit, assuming we had your old door as a pattern. Keep in mind that we use the old door as a pattern; if the
old door sticks, so will the new one. Replacing hardware will also throw off the fit. Finally, we return your old door so
that you have something to use while you’re sealing/painting the new one.
Installation
-
After installing any new door, be sure to seal all surfaces - this includes the two side edges, top and bottom.
-
On prehung units, the key is to install the unit perfectly level and plumb - both the door and the frame.
Warranty Issues
Refer to the individual manufacturer's information regarding warranty details. There is probably no other
category in the construction area where more corners can be cut and the price changes accordingly. This translates into that
you get exactly what you pay for.

Handing
Are you ready to learn something new today? The method we prefer is the "Door Butt Method": stand in the opening of the
doorway and put your rear-end up against the door butts (hinges). How does the door swing? – like your left arm or your
right? If the door swings like your left arm, then it is the left-hand swing; if the door swings like your right arm, it is
a right arm swing. Isn’t it nice to know that some things can be so simple?
